Seattle to Potlatch State Park

Medium Size Large Size
We took the ferry to the penninsula
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Two hours into a Fourteen day journey, age still looks happy

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
The American fascination with naming things after old British stuff never ceases to amaze David

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Our first camp. We've remembered everything essential!

Potlatch State Park to Elma

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Our very first bridge - this one was comparatively quiet, wide-shouldered and nice - but we didn't know that, we thought getting across it a big success and lots of fun

Medium Size Large Size

Elma to Bruceport County Park

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
We took a 'shortcut' from Elma to Bruceport. It was shorter in miles, but had unbelievable hills

Medium Size Large Size
Can you see how age's face matches the pink of her shirt?
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Camp at last

Medium Size Large Size
Airing out the socks for tomorrow

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
It feels so nice to have a shower...

Medium Size Large Size
and ice the injuries (and air out the underwear)

Medium Size Large Size

Bruceport County Park to Astoria

Medium Size Large Size
Age took her knitting with her - these are socks for Jenny

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Rain and Tsunami warnings the whole day

Medium Size Large Size
The four mile bridge into Astoria. Age got over it by keeping her front tire five inches from David's back tire, and not looking at anything but his paniers

Medium Size Large Size
Tired Age.

BEWARE Following are the honeymoon pictures you NEVER get to see...

Medium Size Large Size
That's right - doing the laundry

Medium Size Large Size
David took this picture thinking of Mark and Emina

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
The wonderful pub

Medium Size Large Size
And the awesome cafe, The Columbian. If you ever go to Astoria, go there.

Astoria to Nehalem Bay State Park

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
ALL the bridges were scary, even the ones that look scenic

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
The tunnel scared age so much she almost peed her pants

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
We just have to go down there

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
The dunes were beautiful

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Nehalem Bay State Park to Cape Lookout State Park

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
We stopped at the Tilamook Cheese Factory

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
and hunted down Fat Tire Beer for Mark

Medium Size Large Size
Twenty more miles to go to camp

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Camp at last
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Glorious sunsets every night

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Someone's dead to the world, and someone else is getting into trouble

Cape Lookout State Park to Beverley Beach State Park

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Incredible Gods-rays to start the morning, which is good since Age sprained her ankle wandering to the toilet this morning, and needed all the beauty and happiness she could get

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Sometimes near the ocean

Medium Size Large Size
Sometimes in the hills

Medium Size Large Size
Sometimes a weird mix of beach and trees far from the ocean

Medium Size Large Size
We'll cross that tomorrw

Medium Size Large Size
Pretty much sums it all up

Beverley Beach State Park to Florence

Medium Size Large Size
But the next day started out cold but sunny

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
A stop at the aquarium

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Age doing her otter impression

Medium Size Large Size
It's amazing what you find on the side of the road

Medium Size Large Size
There was AMAZING scenery at the this stop, but we had climbed for five miles and were only interested in sitting at the picnic table and staring into space. The birds were within eyesight of the chairs.

Medium Size Large Size
See where the clouds cover the hills? That's where we're going

Medium Size Large Size
Really weird things on the side of the road

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
A stop at Seal Rock

Medium Size Large Size
The picture doesn't do it justice - you have no sense of how far we climbed.

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Age finding out that Jason and Lita had a healthy baby girl

Medium Size Large Size
A Black Day
Age mutanied and refused to get out of the bed, so we had an extra rest day in Florence.

Florence to Bullards Beach State Park

Medium Size Large Size
We were always a few days off this huge Quilting Festival

Medium Size Large Size
Here we go again!

Medium Size Large Size
Up, Up, UP!

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
ANOTHER bridge

Medium Size Large Size
Age had a flat
Medium Size Large Size
David fixed it

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Excellent meal

Bullards Beach State Park to Humbug Mountain State Park

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Happy Birthday Age!

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
The morning started off pretty chilly, so we stopped for a bite

Medium Size Large Size
The book said there would be puffins here. We didn't see any

Medium Size Large Size
Age found quilts!
Medium Size Large Size
David entertained himself

Medium Size Large Size
David liked this llama
Medium Size Large Size
The llama spat at him

Medium Size Large Size
Another cold, dreary day
Medium Size Large Size
You really appreicate warm dry places that serve hot beverages
Medium Size Large Size
Ready to face the world again

Medium Size Large Size

Humbug Mountain State Park to Harris Beach State Park

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Our campsite friends

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Really strange things you find on the side of the road

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
David minding traffic

Medium Size Large Size
This fun, windy, hilly country road with no traffic

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Back to a big road, with a huge hill, and lots of traffic

Medium Size Large Size
But great views at the top

Medium Size Large Size
If you can lift your head to see them

Medium Size Large Size
Time to make it to the beach
Medium Size Large Size
David fell in love with the pelicans (really pufins in disguise)

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size

Harris Beach State Park to Crescent City

Medium Size Large Size
Thus started the day from hell

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
We smelled so much, we attracted the local wildlife

Medium Size Large Size
Age's first flat of the day

Medium Size Large Size
One mile later... Age's second flat of the day

Medium Size Large Size
Thirty yards later... Age's third flat of the day

Medium Size Large Size
We were supposed to ride 70miles today. We threw in the towel after 30. Reasons:
I. We woke up in a cloud and were freezing the whole morning.
II. Age crashed into David when he tried to pull off the road to a bagel shop (see cold).
III. David got hit by a truck.
IV. David got stung by a wasp.
V. Age got a flat tire.
VI. Age got another flat tire within a mile.
VII. Age got a third flat tire within 30 yards.
VIII. We decided to follow the book instead of our eyes and biked 5 extra miles before lunch.

Crescent City to Elk Prarie Campground

Medium Size Large Size
Three massive hills out of Crescent City. In fog. On a small, narrow, winding road. Scary.

Medium Size Large Size

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Wonderful finds on the side of the road

Medium Size Large Size
Warmth! Food!

Medium Size Large Size
Are we lost?

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
The route took us through the Redwood National Park

Medium Size Large Size
Age took time to try to organize her thesis proposal

Medium Size Large Size
Medium Size Large Size
Puttering about town

Medium Size Large Size
We even made it for a swim!

Medium Size Large Size
Bliss

Medium Size Large Size
In memory of Ceil - time to stop the ride and head to a funeral

Medium Size Large Size
We mailed the bikes home
Medium Size Large Size
And continued the adventure...
